Aaron Hernandez donates $50k to Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund after extension
There may not be an owner in sports more well-liked and respected by players than Robert Kraft. Immediately after signing a contract extension with the Patriots, Aaron Hernandez turned around and donated to the Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund. A charity named for the owner’s deceased wife.
“[Mr. Kraft] didn’t need to give me the amount he gave me,” Hernandez insisted. To prove he meant it, the third-year player donated $50,000 of his newfound wealth to the fund that bears the owner’s late wife’s name: the Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund.
“I said, ‘Aaron, you don’t have to do this. You’ve already got your contract,’” Kraft recounted to reporters. “He said, ‘No, it makes me feel good and I want to do it.’ And that made me feel good…”
A noble gesture by Hernandez and one that speaks to the family atmosphere Kraft has created in his time there. A recipe for success other owners should surely look into.
