Adreian Payne’s draft suit was a touching tribute to his friend, Lacey Holsworth

Michigan State forward Adreian Payne continued to honor the memory of his late friend, Lacey Holsworth. At last night’s draft, Payne wore a suit with “Adreian and Lacey” written on the inside. It was a tremendous tribute.

Payne befriended Lacey Holsworth a few years back when the Michigan State basketball team visited the cancer ward of a local hospital. Lacey suffered from neuroblastoma, a particularly nasty form of cancer that strikes the nervous system. She passed away on April 8th of this year.

Payne wanted to do something special for her at the draft, something “different and something she’d really like.”

“It’s the color of the cancer that she had, leukemia, and I wear a band every day,” Payne said in a statement released by the Atlanta Hawks. “So that’s why I wore it and that’s where I get my inspiration from.”

Onions, is someone cutting onions in here? R.I.P. Princess Lacey.
