Albert Haynesworth charged with assault
Albert Haynesworth’s problems have now spread to the highways and byways of the metro DC area. He’s been charged with assault in Virgina after allegedly punching a motorist in the nose.
Nothing says mentally stable like a case of road rage.
Haynesworth allegedly threw a punch to the nose of Joel Velazques, 38, of Lessburg, Va.
Velazques told ESPN that after their vehicles jockeyed for road space in Reston, Va., a person he recognized as Haynesworth got out of a Ford 150 truck with Tennessee license plates and confronted Velazques and punched him in the nose before taking off.
Speck said the allegations are false.
“Only one side of this story has been told at this point in time,” Speck said. “If contacted by the authorities, Albert will certainly cooperate in any way.”
Haynesworth has had an up-and-down year. After holding out of camp, he returned to the Redskins only to continually get into verbal sparring bouts with coach Mike Shanahan. Not long after that though, against the Eagles, there was this play that pretty much epitomized Haynesworth’s entire season.
Who knows where Haynesworth goes from here as he’s already on thin ice with the organization. But you have to imagine if this case has any steam, Haynesworth may be looking on the outside if/when the NFL gets started up again in the fall.
