Allen Iverson to the Sixers

iversonpistons Allen Iverson to the Sixers

I don’t know if this is a goodbye tour or if the Sixers are just that desperate….But 8 years after leading them to the NBA finals, Allen Iverson has signed a one-year contract for the veterans minimum of 1.3 million dollars.

If you thought Iverson’s career was over….well, it is, trust me.

I had the pleasure of seeing Iverson up close several times last year in Detroit. And the guy just doesn’t care. I’d love to tell you the exact moment when I knew Iverson went from sure fire Hall of Famer to annoying NBA journeyman.

It was when several of my buddies saw him at the MGM Poker room in Detroit at 3am….hours after the Pistons had beat the Knicks the day before Thanksgiving. The story is well-known now, but Iverson missed practice (yes, who needs practice?) the next day, and was benched for the Friday game.

From then on, Iverson became a malcontent in Detroit and his career has never been the same.

So playing for the Sixers, its just a money grab. He probably chose the Sixers because he can still get to Foxwoods in a couple of hours. If you’re hard up for cash, hit up that casino in the next few weeks. I’m sure Iverson will be throwing money around.

What'd you think of this?
