Days before the inaugural match at the 2010 World Cup, a handful of rowdy Argentine soccer fans were arrested at the South African airport. Their crime? Being known hooligans and rooting a bit too much for their team.

The South African Police released this statement:

“Intelligence indicated that these persons would commit acts of public disorder, engage in acts of violence and provoke conflict with certain fans of opponent teams and other groups from Argentina during the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” the statement said.

I have to say I’m a bit impressed with South African World Cup security. Here in the States we’ve somehow missed people on the more well-known “Terrorist Watch List”. These people magically board planes with a bomb down their pants, an “I hate America” t-shirt and yet, by miracle, they enjoy a Salisbury steak in first class.

But flying into a third world country and being on a “Soccer hooligan watch list”. How dare you sir! These men were lucky they weren’t tarred and feathered and publicly stoned in the streets of Johannesburg.

You’ve now deprived these men of a copious amount Cape Town prostitute sex with a side of AIDS.

How unfortunate.
