Ben Roethlisbeger seems like a guy you wouldn’t have a beer with
New details have emerged pertaining to the off-the-field antics of Ben Roehtlisberger. It turns out the QB has an extended history of disgraceful behavior. Really disgraceful behavior…
I couldn’t figure out why a team that won two Super Bowls with Ben Roehtlisberger would ever dream of trading the quarterback. Even with his sexual indiscretions, the guy is one of winningest QBs in the league and considering that top-flight quarterbacks are becoming more and more difficult to find, it’s hard to make a strong case against getting rid of a guy that brought two rings to Pittsburgh. Until you read about how much of an uber-douche this guy is when he gets off the field.
A person named “Craig” told SI that, a few weeks before the Milledgeville incident, he overheard Roethlisberger making lewd comments to a pregnant waitress at a T.G.I.Friday’s restaurant. ”Did your boyfriend forget to pull out?” were among the things Roethlisberger allegedly said.
I know what some of you are saying: “Who is Craig and how can we trust him? That eyewitness account sounds a little flimsy me.” Good point, but Sports Illustrated has a pretty good track record when it comes to reporting, but if you’re still skeptical, a local TV station may be able to roll you some tape.
In 2006, several months after Roethlisberger had suffered serious injuries due to riding a motorcycle without a helmet and then vowed to always wear a helmet in the future, KDKA-TV captured images of him riding a motorcycle without a helmet. He shot a middle finger to the camera as he drove away.
And these are just two examples of what seems to be a long history of douchebaggery. Professional sports are full of stories of redemption and second chances, but Big Ben sounds like he may be too far gone. It’ll be interesting to see how this situation carries over into next season.
