The Big Ten Conference, which oddly enough now has 12 teams, unveiled their new logo and names of their two divisions to the world. And, trying to be as nice as possible, it sucks bad. The logo itself looks like something a child made with Microsoft Paint and the division names “Legends” and “Leaders” not only sound generic but it reeks of Big Ten snobbery.

“Like anything new, it’ll take time to get used to…We decided to look to our history and our future.”

“Then I think to get more specific on divisional names, associating them with a coach or player, we have a treasure trove of legends,” Delany said. “It seemed to be too exclusive and not inclusive enough.”

As fans, we’re certainly not asking much of Delany and the crack-jack squad at the Big Ten Conference, but is it too much to ask for some creativity? I realize that most of their best minds are working at the BTN, providing us with insightful commentary and terrible sight lines for games, but maybe a hire or two from a creative arts school would be helpful. Merely a suggestion Mr. Delany.
