Bill Murray makes Carl Spackler proud

No, it certainly wasn’t the Masters like Carl Spackler had envisioned in Caddyshack but nevertheless, Bill Murray did indeed win the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am over the weekend. Murray teamed up with D.A. Points for a two shot victory in the amateur portion of the Pebble Beach event. In typical Bill Murray fashion, he offered a bit of a comedic routine after the tournament was over.

“I knew that the only chance D.A. had to win was if I could make it through the entire week without ever asking him what the initials D.A. stood for,” Murray said. “I didn’t, and he’s the champion.”

“Cinderella story,” he says. “Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac…It’s in the hole! It’s in the hole!”

If you don’t know what that above quote references, well then my friends, you truly are missing out on one of the greatest and funniest scenes in movie history. Watch below as grounds keeper Carl Spackler tears apart the flower bed in his bid to become the Masters champion. Hell of a swing for a guy who’s 455 yards out!
