Bobby Knight defends Ohio State players; calls NCAA rule idiotic
Former IU and Texas Tech coach Bobby Knight defended Ohio State football players last night calling the NCAA rule they violated “idiotic”. It should be noted, of course, that Knight is an OSU alum.
I understand what’s happened and there was a rule that was violated,” Knight said. “But it was an idiotic rule.”
“I think this NCAA that we’re currently involved with is so far out of touch with the integrity of the sport that it’s just amazing,” Knight said.
If you recall, less than six months ago, Knight sang a far different tune when he lambasted Kentucky coach John Calipari.
“We’ve gotten into this situation where integrity is really lacking and that’s why I’m glad I’m not coaching,” he said. “You see we’ve got a coach at Kentucky who put two schools on probation and he’s still coaching. I really don’t understand that.”
Well, let’s see here, Jim Tressel left Youngstown State after some pretty harsh revelations about “integrity issues” and now he’s shamefully left OSU in disgrace.
Should Tressel get another NCAA job, will Knight feel obligated to trash him like he did Calipari? Hmmm.
