Bruce Pearl is a lot of things–egotistical, boisterous and perhaps even a little crazy. Only weeks after being suspended for recruiting violations at the the University of Tennessee, Pearl took time out of his schedule to rip on former Vols coach Lane Kiffin.

I’ve made mistakes, I clearly did, but what I was hoping for was that some other dumbass would get on the front page and take me off the hook. I miss Lane Kiffin.

There’s a joke here about stones in glass houses, unfortunately, I’m not clever enough to come up with it myself. That entire quote describes how Bruce Pearl has been able to keep his job at Tennessee–his ability to distract people away from the situation and his personable manner. In fact, someone who reminds me of Pearl to a ‘T’ is none other than a guy we spoke about earlier today, Matt Millen. Not necessarily great at his job, and in some instances a royal f*$% up. But when it comes to having a beer with the guys and yucking it up a bit, there’s no one better.
