Brutal high school soccer fight
For some reason it’s soccer season in the deep south. Yes, even though I sloshed through about 8 inches of snow here in the midwest, its warm enough in Mississippi to play soccer.
And I was always under the impression that the south was known for its hospitality and kindness. But Zach Windom, a soccer player from Gulfport high takes that theory and squashes it with every cheap punch he throws in this video.
And while I won’t say this clip is overly brutal or anything, if you don’t want to watch a teenager get punched in the face several times, you’re best off skipping this one
The dad of the player who is getting pummeled is none too pleased about the altercation.
Terrance Shirley, Arlington’s father, said his son was taken to the emergency room after the match and he had a broken wrist. The injury could have been suffered before the scuffle, Terrance Shirley said.
“It was the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that,” Terrance Shirley said of such a fight.
The father also said his son was deeply frustrated.
“He is used to playing at a level of soccer where you don’t think that something would happen like that,” Terrance Shirley said.
Hinds County Chief Deputy Sheriff Steve Pickett said Tuesday that neither party had contacted the sheriff’s office to his knowledge but that the matter brought up several “gray areas.”
I think in this instance “gray area” means you can punch an opponent 5 times in the face during a game. But that 6th time, well, that’s when you cross the line.
