The Eastern Conference showdown between the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat turned out to be just as exciting as everyone had hoped. With the game going down to the wire, Derrick Rose beat LeBron James off the dribble and dished to a wide open Luol Deng in the corner for a game-winning three. LeBron then tried to tie it up on the next possession but threw up a wild brick. If this game was a sign of things to come for Miami, then they are in serious trouble. No legitimate big man underneath may end up being their downfall.

Perhaps the difference between the 50th best player in the world and a top ranked one isn’t that much. Two days ago, Tiger Woods lost to one of the worst seeds in the field in Thomas Bjorn. And yesterday, Phil Mickelson didn’t fare much better losing to up and comer Rickie Fowler 6 & 5. Although, to Fowler credit, he was spectacular making two eagles in three holes. Not much Phil could do about that.

The USC Trojans postseason hopes were all but dead a week ago. But with three wins a row including one over 10th ranked Arizona last night, they definitely have a legit shot now. Wildcats forward Derrick Williams, who is also a National Player of the Year candidate played his worst game of the season scoring a season-low eight points. Williams, who usually gets to the line nine times a game only managed two free throw attempts in the loss.

27-year old Miguel Cabrera spoke to reporters yesterday, a week after his arrest in Florida for drunk driving. It was Cabrera’s first day at spring training and the organization wanted to address the situation right away. And Miggy, he just wants to move on. “I have it under control,” Cabrera said. “It was just a bad decision. I plan to continue with treatment. I made a mistake this time, and all I can do is continue treatment.” Countdown till his next relapse in 3…2…1.
