‘Call Me Maybe’ reaches nadir with SMU-Harvard showdown

If you’re not familiar with the ‘Call Me Maybe’ phenomenon that has swept the nation, consider yourself lucky. This morning on the Today show, the SMU rowing team took on the Harvard baseball team in what can only be described as the lowest moment of the viral internet craze.

Take a look.

There was probably a time when ‘Call Me Maybe’ was entertaining. I’m not sure I can pinpoint that exact moment myself but I’m sure it exists somewhere. But now it sucks. It sucks real bad. It makes me want to punch someone square in the testicles. Very hard. I’d punch Carly Rae Jepsen for creating the song, but she’s a girl and frankly, it’s not her fault.

So I’m left blaming college kids like the old man I am. Specifically college athletes. If the NCAA had any power whatsoever, they’d make this a violation. In fact, I’m pretty sure I saw YouTube ads on some of these videos. Oooh, you’re in trouble. There goes your scholarship.
