As the Lombardi trophy returned to “Titletown” after a 14-year absence, 56,000 fans offered their support of the Packers in the frigid cold. The tickets, which sold out in a matter of hours represents more than half the entire population of the city of Green Bay itself.

Coming off yet another disappointing season (6-10), the Tennessee Titans were looking for a change. So out when long time coach Jeff Fisher and in came offensive line coach Mike Munchak. And his first order of business was controversial to say the least–firing an offensive coordinator that is undergoing aggressive treatment for a rare form of cancer. The new Carmelo Anthony rumor is a bit shocking to say the least. Yesterday, several ESPN sources said that Carmelo to the Lakers was a real possibility. The trade bait would be none other than oft injured center Andrew Bynum. If Carmelo decides L.A. is the spot for him, he’ll have to accept a 3 year, $65 million dollar extension before the agreement can be made. I’m of the opinion that this is hogwash and won’t happen but as time goes on and the rumors amp up, well, when there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

Between now and February 16th (7 days), the St. Louis Cardinals will be working frantically for a deal with star first baseman Albert Pujols. The former MVP has had a stance throughout his entire career that he will not negotiate contracts during the season because he sees it as a distraction. And since he’s reporting for spring training on the 16th, that doesn’t leave the organization with much time.
