A few months back I ran into a friend who I hadn’t seen in a few years. She had always been a fairly skinny girl but this time she looked more than healthy. Even a bit, how shall we say, rotund in the belly.

Naturally, I asked if she had a bun in the oven. And naturally, I haven’t seen or heard from her since that time…I do recall the words “You’re an a$$hole” being uttered before she stormed off.

I felt bad for awhile but after reading this story, I honestly think I may have been doing her a favor.

Chilean weightlifter Elizabeth Poblete gave birth to a boy after 6 months of not knowing she was pregnant. She had been in training and had won a competition as recently as a week ago before she called a doctor after feeling “unwell”.

The head weight trainer in the gym, Horacio Reis, said: “It was a surprise for me. A week ago I acted as a judge in a competition in Chile and this girl was competing. All went well and she won the competition.

“I could see she was a big girl, round and strong. That’s all I noticed.”

See, if Horacio had the same cojones I did, he would have asked. And maybe, just maybe, it would have tipped off Poblete to the fact she hadn’t had a freakin period in 6 months.

Listen I realize that chicks who weight-lift might have irregular menstruation cycles. I certainly don’t want to get into the ins and outs of that.

But if you’re bangin Jose from your local village sans a rubber on a regular basis, there’s a chance a kid might pop out a few months down the line.

(You’ll be happy to know I learned the above information in my 5th grade sex-ed class…thank you Mr. Goss. I knew it would come in handy one day)
