Colts owner Jim Irsay is trying to ruin our football nirvana
With Peyton Manning still nursing a neck injury, the Indianapolis Colts are looking for a veteran option to fill in temporarily. And surprise, surprise, guess whose name has popped up in rumors. That one guy who retired, then unretired, then retired, then told people he was done with football forever.
Here’s some rather curious tweets from Colts Owner Jim Irsay:
I’m in Mississippi, down at the crossroads….looking 4 that deal Mr. Johnson cut so many years ago….
Brad,I’m in Hattiesburg…is it right or left at the Firechief?
Now, in fairness, Irsay may be yanking everyone’s chain. It’s certainly something we will all laugh at should this turn out to be just a joke. But if it’s not, God help us all.
The Associated Press went as far as contacting Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, to get the skinny on what’s going on.
Favre’s longtime agent Bus Cook said he hadn’t spoken with the quarterback in a few days, but the “last time I saw him he was on his tractor mowing the back forty.”
Not exactly a denial per se, however, for the time being, that doesn’t sound like a man who plans on coming back. Then again, I’ve been wrong on more than a handful of occasions with Favre, so, yea, who knows.
In the meantime though, say a prayer for Peyton Manning in hopes he can heal quickly. Because the longer this neck injury keeps him out, the longer we’ll have to endure ESPN’s myriad of updates from Mississippi.
