DeShawn Stevenson arrested for public intoxication

We’ve heard of three day benders before, but Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson may have trumped it with what can only be described as a 48-hour drunken championship stupor. Stevenson was arrested in a Dallas area apartment complex Tuesday night after police found him sitting alone, unaware of his surroundings. Nice DeShawn!

Officers put Stevenson through field sobriety tests and then took him into custody without incident.
“Due to being intoxicated, he was a danger to himself and others, and therefore he was placed under arrest,” Irving police spokesman John Argumaniz said.
Stevenson was released from the Irving Jail on Wednesday morning after posting $475 bail.

Now, if you ask me, I’d bet good money that DeShawn was drunk from the moment he put on that “how’s my Dirk taste” t-shirt until, oh, around 10 a.m. today. That’s quite a fantastic length of drunkenness–one that would even impress the likes of other great drunk athletes of our time.
