There are spending sprees and there is what Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant did during his rookie campaign. Let’s ignore for a moment the massive bill he had to pick up for teammates at a steakhouse and instead focus on his $850k credit card debt on jewelry and tickets to sporting events. How there isn’t a reality show based solely on Bryant’s spending habits are beyond me. Forget “Hard Knocks” HBO, this is your next NFL television series.
“We’ll get them all settled and dealt with,” Wells said Wednesday. “We want to move on, that’s what we want to do. We’re working on it.”
Because of the lawsuits, the perception exists that Bryant is struggling financially. Last season, Bryant made $2.8 million in base salaries and bonuses. He also received $50,000 from Under Armour and other income from personal appearances.
Bryant is scheduled to receive a base salary of $1.1 million this year with a $1 million roster bonus. He cannot receive the bonus until the NFL lockout ends
So, if you happen to go to the same church as Bryant and see him lighting some extra candles and saying some extra Hail Mary’s, you’ll understand why. Nobody, and I mean nobody needs the NFL lockout to end more than him. In fact, you may want to keep that collection plate away from him. The man is in some dire straits.
