This is by no means a defense of Donte Stallworth. In fact, if it were up to me, I’m not sure I would let the guy play again.

But this statement from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell seems a bit over the top

‘‘The NFL and NFL players must live with the stain that you have placed on their reputations.’’

Why would NFL players have to live with the stain of killing somebody? Do you feel guilty when an employee at your work drinks and drives and kills someone?

I wouldn’t. I didn’t make the decision to get behind the wheel.
