Donovan McNabb released by Vikings
And just like that, Donovan McNabb’s services are no longer wanted or needed in Minnesota. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, McNabb was released by the team this afternoon. The 35-year old quarterback has not played since mid-October and was replaced by rookie Christian Ponder. The Vikings have not fared much better under Ponder’s tutelage going 1-4 in that stretch.
The speculation about where McNabb ends up seems to be centered around Houston, Chicago and Dallas, although the Texans signed former Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme on Tuesday.
Do the Bears take a run at him given Cutler’s injured thumb? Who knows. McNabb’s best days are well, well behind him and frankly, he may not fare much better than Caleb Hanie in a Mike Martz offense. An offense that is predicated on 7-step drops and repeated quarterback pressures. Something McNabb has not handled particularly well the last few years.
