Donovan McNabb 309x183 Donovan McNabb signs five year, $78 million contract extension with Redskins

Just two short weeks ago, Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb was benched against the Detroit Lions. The official reason was never given although rumors ranged from, “McNabb is fat and out of shape” to “he doesn’t know the two-minute offense”. Despite those claims and his rather sub par performance this year (7 TD, 8 INT), the Redskins signed him to a five-year, $78 million contract extension.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, those numbers are correct. This, of course, begs the question–has anybody been benched playing the Lions and received a contract extension in the same season? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hopefully, Redskins fans can take solace in McNabb’s QB rating, (76.0) which is no doubt, on the rise.
