Don’t mess with Mike McCarthy

Enter Mike Wood, 22-year member of the maintenance crew at Lambeau field, and life-long Packers fan. Working for the Packers on gameday was his dream job.Three days before the most over-hyped game of the year, against Brett Favre and the Vikings, Wood, while sitting in a maintenance cart in one of the stadium tunnels, shouted something to McCarthy as he was talking with some members of the grounds crew.

What did Wood say that got him fired?

“Get to work fat ass!”

Ummm…no.

Wood yelled to the coach, “Hey coach, let’s get the boys ready to kick some butt this weekend.”

And, according to Wood, that was it. And for that Wood was fired.

I can’t imagine what kind of three ring circus there was leading up to the game that week. So I can’t really say I fault McCarthy here. Except for the fact that he got a kid fired from his dream job by fabricating evidence. What an ahole.

I’m now rooting for one of McCarthy’s assistants to pull a “reverse Tom Cable” on him. Maybe even a kick in the nuts if they’re feeling surly.
