Duke wins National Championship; Kyle Singler gets leveled

If you are a Duke fan, congratulations. Your team was the only #1 that survived to the Final Four and ultimately beat a pesky Butler team.

If you are a Butler fan, you can take solace in knowing that Matt Howard delivered the most devastating body check in basketball history.

I truly wonder what would have happened had Gordon Hayward’s half-court heave had went in. We’d be looking at the most controversial ending in tournament history. No ref in the world would make that call but then again, delivering hockey style checks isn’t really commonplace in a basketball game.

But, all in all, it doesn’t matter. Duke won a low-scoring game at a tempo that actually favored Butler. The offensive rebounding from Duke and the Butler scoring drought in the second half were the 2 biggest factors in a game that will be remembered for a long time.
