Dumb media rumor of the day: Tom Izzo to Oregon

In an extremely lame attempt to have his alma mater stay relevant, Oregon’s Phil Knight is supposedly offering Tom Izzo a record contract.

A source close to the University of Oregon Athletic Department has told KEZI the Ducks are planning to offer Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo the largest contract in college basketball, with the backing of Oregon’s biggest booster, Nike Chairman Phil Knight.

Oregon cannot interview Izzo or make any formal offer until Michigan State is finished playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Somebody really needs to let Oregon in on the big secret we’re all keeping from them. NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOU. You’re in the Pacific Northwest, in the Pac-10 and if you didn’t have hot cheerleaders, not a single soul would even know you existed

But, its a slow sports day, so the “Tom Izzo to Oregon” rumors will probably catch on in a few places.
