ESPN analyst Jalen Rose gets 20 days in jail for DUI
Former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Jalen Rose was sentenced to 93 days in jail for a DUI he received in March. Judge Kimberly Small of the 48th district court had this to say to Rose during today’s hearing.
You’re not here because you drank. I have no problem with that. Have at it. I do mind when you get behind the wheel of a two-ton vehicle and use it as a weapon against the rest of us.
It should be noted that Small suspended most of Rose’s sentence and only ordered him to serve 20 of the 93 days. Also of note, Detroit mayor Dave Bing, a former NBA star himself, wrote a letter on Rose’s behalf to the judge citing his work in the community. But Small, who is one of the toughest judges in the country for DUI’s, was determined to send a message that your status holds no water when it comes to sentencing.
Rose will begin his sentence, Tuesday, August 2nd.
