Eight female badminton players have been disqualified from the Olympics after allegedly throwing matches. They did so, not for money, but rather to receive a more favorable draw. A virtual no-no and unbecoming of the Olympic spirit.

The Badminton World Federation investigated two teams from South Korea and one each from China and Indonesia. It accused them of “not using one’s best efforts to win a match” and “conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport” in matches Tuesday night.

I’m completely shocked to see the Chinese cheat. Their Olympic team just seems so wholesome and full of integrity. Like that one female swimmer who trained so hard she outdid her male competitors. Truly stunned to see them take a shortcut to get ahead.
