James Wilder 135x95 Florida State running back arrested after trying to protect girlfriend from cops

James Wilder, Jr. was not in any legal trouble. The Florida State running back was simply minding his own business when cops came to his apartment. They were looking for his girlfriend who had failed to show up in court on a criminal mischief charge.

But that’s when things got hairy.

According to the police report, Wilder jumped in front of the officers to stop the arrest, something the boys in blue weren’t too happy about it.

The deputy threatened to use his Taser and advised Wilder that he “would be Tased if he continued to interfere.” Wilder then began yelling obscenities at the deputy, the report said.
Both Camarda and Wilder were taken to Leon County Jail and bonded out.

“There was miscommunication between him and the officer,” Wilder’s attorney, Tim Jansen, told the Tallahassee Democrat. “He never touched the officer and he never attempted to touch the officer.”

Note to all scholarship athletes out there. If your friends, girlfriends, family members are about to get arrested, don’t get involved. Whatever good you think you’re doing is immediately negated by your subsequent arrest and possible discipline from the team. Something that will inevitably hurt your chances of getting to the NFL and more importantly, your continuing free education.
