Floyd Landis admits doping, accuses Armstrong
2006 Tour De France champion Floyd Landis has finally come clean about the doping scandal that stripped him of his title. And since he’s going down, he’s taking every man he can down with him. He’s accused 7-time Tour De France champion and teammate Lance Armstrong along with several other American riders.
Landis says that his doping started in 2002 when he was a member of the U.S. Postal Service team. A team that was led by none other than Armstrong himself. In a series of emails he sent to cycling officials and sponsors, Landis goes into detail about what drugs he used. Among them, the blood boosting drug EPO, testosterone, human growth hormone and blood transfusions, as well as female hormones and a one-time experiment with insulin.
He also detailed a specific time in 2003, when the blood doping took place in Armstrong’s apartment in Spain. Landis was asked by Armstrong to keep watch on the blood he kept in a refrigerator to make sure it didn’t go bad.
For what it’s worth, these allegations about Armstrong are not anything new. To date, while Armstrong has always tested clean, he remains mired in rumors about cheating. That’s not expected to change anytime soon.
