U.S. women’s gymnastics team change name to ‘Fierce Five’ because Jalen Rose is a gigantic douche
Five adorable teenage girls stole America’s heart during the Olympic games. They won the overall team gold, they won individual medals and they dominated the gymnastics competition. They were commonly referred to as the “Fab Five” —a fitting alliterative nickname for a team of five high-caliber athletes.
Well, that name happened to be the same as a team from twenty years ago. A team that wore black socks, baggy shorts and accomplished nothing in comparison to these girls. I speak of course of the University of Michigan basketball squad headlined by Chris Webber, Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose.
It’s Rose here that’s drawn our ire as he’s shamed the team into changing their name to the “Fierce Five.”
We can argue about the greatest moment at the 2012 London Olympics, the best highlight, the most inspirational athlete but when it comes to the douchiest moment, there’s one that undoubtedly stands above the rest.
Thank you Jalen Rose, you are the villain America deserves and one it certainly needs right now.
