Hall of Fame asks for memorabilia from Armando Galarraga’s “perfect game”
Well, all is not lost for Tigers’ Armando Galarraga and his faux “perfect game”. He may have not pitched a game by record book standards, but the Baseball Hall of Fame is recognizing his achievements nonetheless.
“Instantly, the game became a historic moment in baseball, one that has spurred the interest among fans around the globe,” Hall spokesman Brad Horn said Monday. “The game’s outcome shows the human element of sportsmanship, character and integrity by all parties involved, which helped the moment transcend a single feat or performance.”
The specific items the Hall requested were the first-base bag, Galarraga’s spikes and a ball. Unfortunately, they didn’t ask for Jim Joyce’s missing glasses or his mustache comb.
What a pity. That would have made for some memorable artifacts.
