Heat win Game 3; LeBron shoots down reporter’s obnoxious question in postgame
Known mostly for their offensive prowess during the regular season, it’s been the Miami Heat defense that has stepped up in the playoffs. After Chris Bosh’s jumper put them up two with :39 seconds to go, the Heat forced a turnover on the ensuing possession and a Dirk Nowitzki contested shot in the game’s final seconds to hold on for the victory, 88-86. The win was crucial for the psyche of the Heat because, for the second game in a row, they had blown a double-digit lead. This one, however, proved not to be as disastrous as the previous game.
Afterwards, in the postgame, a reporter asked LeBron about his lack of offense in the 4th quarter. The King replied, in kind, with this quip.
“All you looking at is the stat sheet…honestly, I’m a two-way player. Tonight, D-Wade had it going on offensively….If you watch the film again, you’ll see what I did defensively, you ask me a better question tomorrow”.
In LeBron’s defense, the Mavs simply did not have an answer for Wade pretty much all game long. And though James only had 2 points in the final frame, it was his playmaking ability that led to the game-winning shot by Bosh.
Listen, I’m all about piling on LeBron when his play calls for it. But in this instance, give him credit for realizing that it was Wade’s night offensively and not his.
