In a rather sad tale of fandom gone too far, a San Francisco Giants fan was beaten up at Dodger Stadium last week. Since then, the community has rallied around the man who suffered brain damage and now almost $200k has been raised in his behalf. Standing in their way in the semi-finals will be the Boston Celtics who have quickly become bitter rivals of the team from South Beach.

Ten people have been indicted in a gambling ring including two University of San Diego basketball personnel. The allegations include possible point shaving and taking bribes. The two involved are no longer at the school, Thaddeus Brown, an assistant coach at the school in the 2006-07 season; and Brandon Dowdy, who played at San Diego in the 2006-07 season and at the University of California, Riverside, from 2008 to 2010.
