I realize that Jake Delhomme is a bit upset about his departure from the Carolina Panthers. But in his tearful press conference today, he said “there wasn’t any animosity but the Panthers blindsided him with the decision.” Blindsided him? Sorry Jake, the team didn’t know you needed Michael Oher around to protect you.

It’s astounding to me that he didn’t see the writing on the wall. From his dismal playoff performances to his most recent benching for Matt Moore, it was truly just a matter of time.

And while I normally wouldn’t comment on a man losing his job, this press conference was just a bit too dramatic for me; dare I say even Brett Favre-esque. It deteriorates quickly in the last minute or so where it essentially becomes tearful psycho babble.
