Jeremy Shockey saves a teammate from choking
After years of being on the receiving end of devastating hits by defenders, Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey decided to deliver one of his own Monday. And thankfully for teammate Ben Hartsock, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
According to the National Football Post, Hartsock was choking on a piece of pork tenderloin and several attempts at the Heimlech maneuver were unsuccessful. That’s when Shockey sprang to action delivering a well-placed strike to Hartsock’s back dislodging the food.
“He started to go to the bathroom and I don’t know if he collapsed, but he couldn’t breathe,” McCartney said. “Some new guy came and tried to give him the Heimlich. It didn’t work. Then, Shockey hit him in the back pretty hard and out came the meat. The Panthers told me it was really scary.
So Shockey saves lives now? Interesting. On the Nevin Shapiro bonus scale, how much do former Hurricanes get for successfully dislodging food?
