Joe Paterno memorial tickets are selling on eBay

Following Joe Paterno’s death on Sunday, eBay exploded with a myriad of memorabilia. Everything from signed items, to ticket stubs of old games, t-shirts and figurines, presumably in an attempt to cash-in while the iron was hot. Certainly not the most honorable way to profit, but then again, you know, capitalism.

This morning, a rather interesting item showed up on the auction site in the form of tickets to JoePa’s public memorial on Thursday–an event where there is free admission. CNBCs Darren Rovell pointed it out on his Twitter account saying, “Not sure how the people selling JoePa Memorial tickets on eBay right now live with themselves.” Not long after the news blew up on social media, eBay took the auction down.

This is what it looked like prior to being pulled (via Lobshots).

Yes, I’m appalled…at the extremely steep price someone was willing to pay.

I’ll leave the judging to others but in this downtrodden economy, I can’t blame a student for trying to profit.

What'd you think of this?
