Not surprisingly, Kentucky point guard John Wall was taken with the first pick in the NBA draft. However, what was surprising was that all 4 of his Wildcat teammates were also taken in the 1st round. Not sure if that’s good or bad for coach John Calipari. On one hand, he knows how to get elite talent. On the other hand, he couldn’t even get to the Final Four with 5 NBA level players.

Ouch.

On a separate note, the most bizarre incident of the entire draft occurred before it actually started. Portland Trailblazers GM Kevin Pritchard was fired before the draft. However, he was asked to stay on and make the picks before he left. Solid upper management decision right there by the Blazers.
