Just a coincidence? Yet another Robert Cheruiyot wins Boston Marathon
A. Isaac In general, people running for a handful of hours is not in the least bit interesting. But this has to be one of the strangest coincidences I can recall in any sporting event.
Today, Robert Cheruiyot won his first ever Boston Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 52 seconds. If the name looks familiar to you running enthusiasts, you are correct. 4 time champion Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot bears the same exact name as today’s winner. And no, they are not related.
I have no idea if that name is common amongst Kenyans or even if the two hail from the same region in Kenya. Nonetheless, a huge accomplishment especially considering this incredible yet disturbing stat…
