Guyism’s daily look at what’s hot in the world of sports.
Kobe Bryant just missed the All-Star game record of 42 points set by Wilt Chamberlain, but his 37 was enough to lead the West All-Stars to the win over the East. The game looked in hand through the first three quarters until LeBron James decided enough was enough and rallied his squad in the 4th, cutting the lead to as few as 2 points. But clutch jump shooting from Kevin Durant sealed the win for the West.
The Daytona 500 featured a very odd ending in the form of 20-year old Trevor Bayne winning the biggest event on the circuit. The race was marred by a 14-car crash early on but Bayne was able to stay out of trouble throughout the day en route to the win. Oddly enough, Bayne is a Sprint Series rookie of sorts, having only started one race before Daytona. Needless to say, he’s probably earned himself a few more starts this year.
Remember last week when we told you that Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey was on the verge of happening? Well, it appears that the Knicks swooped in with a much better offer over the weekend to give Denver something to think about. According to the Denver Post, the Knicks deal hinges on Anthony signing a long-term deal with the team. Sounds familiar huh?
