Kristin Cavallari, Jay Cutler call off engagement

Kristin Cavallari and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler have called off their engagement according to E! News. The two had been together for only 10 months and their wedding registry was posted online last week. It appears Cutler had a sudden change of heart. Like many of his decisions on the football field, he probably didn’t think this one all the way through.

A source close to the couple told E! News that while Cavallari’s excitement about their big day led her to buy a Monique Lhuillier wedding gown just two weeks ago, the Chicago Bears quarterback was no longer on the same page—and he pulled the plug on the affair yesterday.

“Jay got cold feet,” a source close to the couple told E! News. “Kristin is stunned.”

The source said the couple had been disagreeing over some issues recently, particularly how Cavallari would balance her career while living in Chicago with Cutler during the football season.

The timing of the decision to dump Cavallari seems rather odd, especially since things had appeared kosher just last week. Maybe the end of the lockout prompted Cutler to think more clearly about his future. Or maybe, just maybe he didn’t want to play second fiddle to his more popular future spouse.
