Tyler Hamilton 309x210 Lance Armstrong wants apology from 60 Minutes

Lance Armstrong is apparently still peeved about that “60 Minutes” broadcast from a weeks back. If you recall, his former teammate, Tyler Hamilton, accused Armstrong of failing a drug test and covering it up in 2001. He went as far as saying he received this information firsthand from Lance, which of course, is something that Armstrong has vehemently denied for years.

Well now his team of lawyers has demanded an on-air apology from the CBS news show for what they deemed to be “shoddy journalism”.

“In the cold light of morning your story was either extraordinarily shoddy, to the point of being reckless and unprofessional, or a vicious hit-and-run job,” Peters wrote. “In either case, a categorical on-air apology is required.

What is particularly disturbing is that ’60 Minutes’ had access to the true facts, could easily have verified them, and apparently chose instead to broadcast untruths and then layer innuendo on top of the falsehoods,” Peters said.

This Lance Armstrong thing has gone on far too long. He cheated, everybody knows he cheated and the only people who believe he is clean are O.J. and Pete Rose.

There will never be a smoking gun with regards to Armstrong. Never. He’s gotten to a point now where he has to keep the story going or he risks being ostracized from society and from his legion of “Livestrong” supporters.

So be it, let’s all move on, this story sucks.
