The sports world was caught off-guard last night when it was announced that former USC offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin would come back and be head coach of the Trojans.
It really is a wonder how his name was never really mentioned in this whole process. Instead, we were fed Jack Del Rio and Steve Mariucci.
Big Lead’s Jason McIntyre had this to say on Twitter
great job by USC using ESPN reporters to float names like Mooch/Del Rio as a smokescreen while locking up Kiffin. great misdirection
Sorry ESPN, looks like you got played pretty hard.
As for Kiffin, I’m not really sure what all the buzz about him is. Granted, I’m not sure anyone could have succeeded in Oakland with Al Davis but he wasn’t exactly tearing it up in his 14 months at Tennessee either. In fact, if the man went a week without some kind of NCAA violation, it was considered a success.
And people will argue that Volunteer students are rioting because Lane Kiffin left. Um, let me tell you something. As somebody who may or may not have participated in many a riot at MSU, you really don’t need a reason.
All you need are a couple of beers, a lighter, a couch, and some bad, drunken decisions
