LaVar Arrington rips Favre in Washington Post blog
Brett Favre had a rough game yesterday. Actually, that’s being nice. The truth is, Favre was utterly worthless with four turnovers which included two interceptions in the end zone and a terrible toss to Bernard Berrian in double coverage. There are many in the Vikings organization that are probably beginning to wonder if it was such a smart idea to bring him “out of retirement”.
Former Washington Redskins’ lineback LaVar Arrington offered his views on the matter in his Washington Post blog. Suffice to say that he’s not a Favre supporter.
Was it worthwhile to offer him more money and send their best players and coaches to visit him during training camp to plead with him to play? Please.
This could turn out to be the worst off-season decision of the year. Honestly, what do you believe these Viking players are thinking? I’ll tell you. They are wondering the same thing they wondered last year: How the heck does an NFL franchise allow so much indecision? How does an NFL franchise allow a single player to dictate what happens and what doesn’t? And here’s the most detrimental thought of all: Teammates now say to themselves, ‘if he can get away with it, then why shouldn’t I be able to do the same’?
The Vikings do not have a clear direction at this point, and although they were a pass away from playing in the Super Bowl last season, this team seems disjointed and dangerously close to a meltdown. And we all know the reason why. Sad, but true, we all know that Brett Favre’s shenanigans are the main reason why.
Wow, that’s an absolute evisceration right there. While Arrington is certainly speaking only for himself, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the prevailing opinion of players in the league right now.
And as for Favre himself, he’s not one to normally give excuses. But I think drinking before the game might constitute as a problem.
