Lebron James Lebron James says Cavs have the edge in free agency

Lebron James had a sit-down interview today at his home in Akron. The interview was not conducted by ESPN, Charles Barkley, SI or any number of sports media outlets. Instead, James decided that his first national one-on-one was to be done with the man, the myth, the legend Larry King.

Let’s hope for his sake he wasn’t seeking any relationship advice.

James told King that the Cavs have the edge in this summer’s free agent sweepstakes of him.

King, who interviewed James at the two-time MVP’s home near Akron on Tuesday, asked the superstar if Cleveland has “an edge going in?”
“Absolutely,” James said in a portion of the interview released by the network. “Because, you know, this city, these fans, I mean, have given me a lot in these seven years. And, you know, for me, it’s comfortable. So I’ve got a lot of memories here. And so it does have an edge.”

Count me amongst those that believe this is just posturing from Lebron. He may have failed at many things on the court this year, but at the very least, he has handled the business side of things off-the-court as well as anybody. This was a calculated and leaked quote, probably from Lebron’s PR people. It appeases the Cavs fans for now but also puts the organization on high alert that some changes better be made to the roster.

Who knows what kind of money they have or what kind of moves they can make at this point. They should however know this: Lebron is not going to come back to that team with that roster and truly believe he’ll be a champion.
