Maple Leafs outshoot Islanders 61-21, still manage to lose

Consider this one of the bigger sports fails of the year. That or Isles goalie Dwayne Roloson is doing his best Terry Sawchuk impression.

Roloson turned aside 58 shots to help the New York Islanders beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime on Monday night. It was the most saves since Ron Tugnutt stopped 70 shots for Quebec on March 21, 1991 according to STATS.

I’m assuming some of these saves were of the easy variety. Like when a Leafs player shot one directly into Roloson’s face.

And what the hell were the Islanders doing in the 3rd period when they were outshot 23-4. Was that like a 20 min long power play or did they just decide to willingly only put 4 guys on the ice.

Lucky for them the Maple Leafs are one of the most inept teams in hockey history. And that Dwayne Roloson….man, he’s so good he even makes saves on the bench
