VIDEO: Marcelo tried to send Fabregas home in a body bag
The Spanish Super Cup yesterday looked more like Monday Night Raw in it’s closing moments. With Barcelona leading 3-2 over Real Madrid in extra time, Real’s Marcelo took Cesc Fabregas down with what can only be described as some type of scissor kick. Arguably, the dirtiest tackle you’ll ever see.
After the game, Barcelona captain Xavi had this to say
“Unfortunately this is the image of Madrid. The cameras speak for themselves.
It is not up to the authorities. We haven’t been allowed to play, Madrid were just kicking and seeking squabbles.”
When asked about the challenge on Cesc Fabregas, which earned Marcelo a red card, Xavi said: You can be aggressive or over enthusiastic but Marcelo went in to hurt Cesc. It’s good that today justice has been done.”
The skirmish after the tackle also led to red cards for Mesut Ozil and David Villa who both came off the bench to talk “calmly” about the incident.
