Michigan QB Tate Forcier stripped of the winged helmet

UM Quarterback Tate Forcier has had a wild ride in the past year. Hyped as one of the best incoming recruits in the nation last year, Forcier led the Wolverines to a 4-0 record to begin the 2009 season. Things were going so well that some “experts” were saying he could win the Heisman as a freshman.

But then Michigan’s schedule got a little tougher, and poor Tate Forcier got banged up. He was a little more than sensitive in the shoulder area.

Needless to say, things went south both for UM and Forcier rather quickly as they finished the remainder of their season 1-7. And now, with the emergence of Denard Robinson and incoming freshman Devin Gardner this year , Forcier may already have one foot out the door.

It didn’t help that today’s practice featured him with a helmet devoid of the traditional UM wings. Either Tate hasn’t been drinking his Red Bull or coach Rich Rodriguez is giving him some tough love.
