MSU with the play of the year; fake field goal in overtime to beat Notre Dame

If MSU coach Mark Dantonio was looking to solidify himself as the ballsiest coach in college football, well then, last night’s fake field goal may as well be his calling card. He has certainly run his fair share of trick plays in his three years as the Spartans coach, but none were as important or game critical as this one.

With Notre Dame leading by three in overtime, MSU backed themselves up on offense. Facing a 4th and 14 on the 29 yard line, freshman kicker Dan Conroy trotted on the field with holder/punter Aaron Bates.

The rest, as they say is history.
