MSU/Notre Dame Preview

A. Isaac Senior Editor

History

Notre Dame owns the all-time series 44-25-1 but MSU has had their way winning lately winning 7 of the last 10.

In fact, MSU has won five straight at Notre Dame Stadium. No wonder we planted a flag in 2005.

The rivalry between these schools dates back to a memorable 10-10 tie in 1966. Coincidentally, Ara Parseghian, the coach of the Irish in that game is being honored this week in South Bend.

Hopefully, the nostalgia of winning wont rub off on Notre Dame’s current team.

Below is a video of some great Spartan Highlights from the last 10 years or so. A big slap in the face to the Irish as its set to music from the movie “Rudy”.

2006 Game

It still haunts my dreams. Sometimes I wake up at night in a cold sweat. “Its ok”, I say. It was only a nightmare.

Then reality punches me in the stomach.

No, it wasnt.

It actually happened. Jonelle Smith was actually stupid enough to lose another game after he had a huge lead. He actually had the audacity to run a shotgun in torrential rain. He actually had the nerve to pull Caulcrick after he was running all over Notre Dame.

At first I was angry when they started to lose the lead, then depression settled in.

For many of us, the loss lingers. For a talk show host named Mike Valenti, the anger carried into his Monday show.

One of the more classic fan rants you’ll ever hear.

Thanks to Mike, Teddy Ruxpin and HR Puff N’ Stuff replaced Chris Smeeland as the Defensive Coordinator the rest of the year.

Charlie Weis

jabba MSU/Notre Dame Preview

Jabba the Weis proclaimed emphatically that he would not lose to MSU again after MSU planted its flag on the 40 yd line in an overtime win in 2005.

He was some terrible coaching decisions away from that statement making him look even more stupid than he already is.

This is the same man who claimed that a MSU player slapped him in the face during a scuffle on the Notre Dame sidelines. Replays showed Weis to be a liar.

So add that trait to an already growing number of flaws on Weis’ resume.

The team is in disarray right now and the genius is the #1 culprit. Reports from last week UM game said that Weis chastised his team for more than a 1/2 hr postgame. Not long after, he said they would be going back to the basics and every position was up for grabs.

Considering the 0-3 start and the impending disastrous season, its a wonder how Weis got a contract extension TWO years ago.

Mensa is so upset that Weis has disgraced their organization, that they revoked his membership

Prediction

MSU is the better team. MSU has played better up to this point. MSU is 3-0

Notre Dame is one of the worst teams in 1A. Notre Dame has been routed in all three of their games. Notre Dame has not scored an offensive touchdown.

But all that said, seeing Notre Dame start 0-4 is almost unbelievable. They have to win one of these games eventually right?

Nah, forget it, not this week.
