Preview
One of the best running back tandems in the country goes up against the best run defense in the BigTen. But this will be another game where Brian Hoyer is going to need to step up and make plays. Last week against Purdue, Hoyer probably had his best game as a Spartan converting several third down plays and overall, being extremely accurate. His 5 ints is crucial to MSUs game plan of controlling the clock and winning the turnover game. It will be interesting to see what kind of defensive approach Penn State will bring.
On the other side, Anthony Morelli struggles on the road against the better teams in the conference. Threw 3ints at Illinois and was putrid against UM with 169 yards passing. MSU will force PSU to throw the ball and more than likely defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi will bring a lot of blitzes. The bad side of that is,ofcourse, the big play, which MSU is extremely susceptible to.
If MSU doesnt miss tackles and keeps the big plays to a minimum and if Brian Hoyer can be as solid as he was against Purdue, MSU should win this game by 10+.
