Penn State wins volleyball title: 50 hot pics to celebrate

Naturally, the talk of NCAA women’s athletics the last few years has centered on the dominance of the UConn basketball team. Led by coach Geno Auriemma, the women Huskies have compiled an 88-game winning streak tying an NCAA record held by John Wooden’s UCLA Bruins. Their run the last few years has been nothing short of miraculous and they look poised to win their 3rd consecutive national title in 2011.

But during this same time period there has been a team in the NCAA ranks that has had a more impressive run–the Penn State Women’s Volleyball team. On Saturday, they swept Cal to win their 4th straight NCAA championship. In an era where there should be parity at the college ranks with equal number of scholarships, it’s quite an astounding feat.
